We are delighted that plans to merge Portsdown Group Practice and Hanway Medical Practice have been approved and will now go ahead.
NHS Portsmouth CCG’s (Clinical Commissioning Group) Primary Care Commissioning Committee unanimously agreed to the merger, which will take place on May 1st, 2020.
The CCG also agreed to the phased closure of the two Hanway sites.
It is likely that Hanway’s surgery in Stubbington Avenue will close on April 30th 2020 and the main building in Hanway Road will likely continue to operate for a further 6-month period.
We acknowledge that a number of patients had various concerns about the closure of the Hanway sites; these concerns were fully considered by the CCG including the feedback from the public meetings held for patients, other comments received and the views of a number of local politicians.
The CCG was fully satisfied that the correct processes, procedures and public engagement had been followed and decided that our proposals offered the “most viable and sustainable solution” for our patients.
We would like to thank all patients who were involved in this engagement process and would like to assure you that any comments received will be fully considered in the planning of future services to you.
