About the Practice

Hanway Medical Practice is a large inner city practice serving the health needs of in excess of 14,300 of Portsmouth's population. Doctor Ian Morris leads a dedicated team of staff working in partnership with our patients to offer the highest standards of medical care in what is a constantly changing health service. The Practice has long been established in the Buckland area and many of our patients will remember the small single-handed surgery which started in Portsea, expanding firstly to our Stubbington Avenue surgery and then on to include our purpose built site at Hanway Road.

The Hanway Medical Practice consists of a team of 7 doctors, 5 Practice / Minor Illness Nurses, 3 Health Care Assistants, a Wellbeing Advisor plus Health Visitors, Midwives, and District Nurses who come and go during a busy week. As a training practice there is also the benefit of Registrar Doctors completing their final year of training before becoming fully qualified GPs.

Both Hanway Road and Stubbington Avenue Surgeries have disabled access; there are two consulting rooms on the first floor at Stubbington Avenue surgery so please inform Reception if you are unable to use the stairs.
