Pregnancy Pre/Post Natal

Once Pregnancy has been confirmed an appointment is made with the Health Care Assistant to complete the relevant paperwork, this includes a referral to the Midwife who will be responsible for the majority of care throughout the pregnancy.

There are two community Midwives attached to the Surgery  - Vicky Gager for Stubbington Avenue patients  and Lisa Storey for Hanway Road patients. Generally the midwife will review pregnant ladies at a clinic on a monthly basis until the latter stages of the pregnancy when the appointments get more frequent. They will ask that a urine sample is taken to each appointment and they will check  general health including blood pressure, weight and the measurement of the babies growth.

A post natal appointment is made with the GP six weeks after babies birth to check all is well.
